The Christmas season sales have really been tempting me, I should pay on my student loans but I want an $800 rolling t olbox, never mind that I don’t have a garage to put it in let alone enough tools to fill it. You know I could use a brushless 3/8 impact, it doesn’t matter that I should buy a nicer car if I’m going to do any real work to it that would require said impact. I’ve also been thinking I don’t have enough extensions, universal joints , and step up/ downs that would really help with the looming list of things I need to replace on my 300d. :/ I need to stop window shopping at Home Depot and pick up some overtime

Just remember, the post-Christmas sales will be even better

Also, I don’t understand the reasoning “I should buy a nicer car if I’m gonna work on it.” Isn’t the point of nicer cars that you don’t need to? I say buy a *worse* car, then you’ll worry less about screwing up, and the work you p ut in will be more likely to add value.

But the tools. Always buy the tools. Learn the skills, build the confidence, build the car, hone the skills, make your own parts, get your hands dirty and gain a tremendous sense of pride. Do it.

I really need a big toolbox. I currently have several small ones and it’s a pain in the butt to deal with. I could easily fill a 54” box.
My bank account is thankful all I’ve seen on sale are top and bottom boxes marked down as a set. I just want the bottom box.
I’ll be the devil on your shoulder and say a not so nice car is the best reason for an impact. You’ll get much more use out of it with a maintenance heavy car than a nice car.

My sister was trying to buy our dad a 170$ Milwaukee radio for Christmas. I was like fuck that let’s get him a real tool, besides he doesn’t even have music on his phone. So know he’s getting a 12" dual bevel sliding miter saw.

I’m starting too far Behind the finish line with this one, I could throw $4000 in parts and hundreds of hours at my 300d or I could buy a $4000 car that would be better than the finished result in every measurable way. Once I address the bodywork, suspension, brakes, and fuel tank, my engine with 265,000 miles still wants a rebuild and the trans is still on its way out.

but tools are an investment
